Propane has a fantastic safety record in American homes. Why’s that? It’s a combination of federal, state and local oversight with stellar industry standards and the diligent work of local providers. SAMS GAS is wholly committed to your household’s safety and well-being. That’s why we continually invest in professional training and education. We also want you to know how to respond if there’s a problem with your propane tank or other gas equipment.
Propane is naturally odorless, but an odorant is added so that it will smell like rotten eggs, spoiled meat or skunk spray. While this makes it fairly easy to identify a gas leak, we also recommend that you install UL-listed gas detectors (which are different from carbon monoxide detectors) near your propane and natural gas appliances.
If you notice the smell of gas, it’s important to act quickly and safely:
Below, you can find videos from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) covering propane safety topics. The SAMS GAS team is also always available to answer your questions.
At SAMS GAS, we pride ourselves on being there whenever you need us. No call centers, no subcontractors. Our team takes care of you like a member of the family!
